Just to add to this thread. Short story is an early second era Unica 30-30. Good bore. I like Stutzens, so why not. After taking the barrel down to 20" the smith had pity and had his assistant blue the barrel, then drilled and tapped for a scope. Rifle has a nice 3.5 lb trigger. I may try and slow rust blue the action, or just take the easy way out and use some matt durablue. It weighs 6.5 lbs as pictured.

Plan to use this English/Turkish walnut that I have for the new stock. Not fancy, but adequate.

I may even try to make it an 30-30 AI if I like it. Also have an extra 22H for this set too. Perhaps a 219 AI Wasp? Not that I need it.

I have another almost pristine first era 30-30 219 with the matching 20 gauge barrel too. I see a 125 grain spire point with some CFE 223 pushing about 2700fps out of that 26" barrel.

Also have a dedicated 219 Hornet too...

I plan to slowly switch out all of the wood for butt stock with cheek piece's and some with higher/mild Monte Carlo stocks. Maybe even some ebony tips.
