Seems to be a common affliction among grifters. Nothing is more powerful than God, especially if you're bilking the weak - just ask the Catholic church.
The Catholics and LDS Mormons among others have a man that takes messages from the Lord. He then informs the peons. No questions allowed.

The folks that take the position of the inerrancy of the Bible have to depend on such a man or ruling council. Otherwise the contradictions and obvious forged additions are a problem.

The arrogance! How can one man purport to speak for God to the people? That's the position of the Orthodox Church, anyway.
