Fresh out of the chicken, they'll keep a month sitting on the counter. Wash off the natural film that's on them when laid and it cuts the shelf time considerably. The film keeps bacteria from penetrating the shell to spoil them. Grocery store eggs have been scrubbed and sterilized so they won't keep nearly as long. Yep.
