So I picked up the rifle I got for my dad, got it home and was looking it over, I about fell over when I looked at the barrel script and saw that it is a "336 SC 35 Remington". I never looked closely cause the tag on the rifle said "Marlin 336 30/30"

My dad really wanted a 30/30 for hunting so I gave him a like new 336W I've never even shot. I guess I'll keep this one and use it for hunting, it's no safe queen. Unfortunately along with the worn bluing some knucklehead drilled and tapped it, rather poorly as you can see in the pics.

My only question is what can I do to make this rifle more shooter friendly as far as the sights are concerned? The front bead is fine, but the rear sight is lacking and seeing how it is all bunged up I might as well do whatever it takes to make it a better hunting gun. On the plus side, it handles great and has a fantastic trigger pull............Scott

BTW this was 267.00 out the door, at that price I definitely want to knock down some critters with it.
