He!! Hawk, I had a scope on my M14 that I set up for just this type of deal. At 1.5x with an illuminated reticle, it made a 48 pace shot on a trotting porker seem too easy. Scopes work, especially for those with older eyes and shorter arms. Mine seem to get shorter by the year.
