Of course, I'm partial to all the stories about the 99's, but it just goes to show there is no one perfect rifle for anyone. For many of us, it's a sentimental attachment to a family heirloom handed down across the generations. For some, it's a custom built rig for which they are very proud. 'Sounds like there's a lot of "perfect" deer guns out there. My taste runs to the ugly old warhorses that have made their living putting meat on the table for many decades. Dad always scoffed at "pretty" rifles. He said a gun is just a tool. I know that's not necessarily true-just my old man's view on things near and dear to his heart. He'd walk right past the pretty stuff on the rack and dig out some old beat up rifle and say, "look at this son-see all these dings in the stock-every one of them was EARNED."
