I love it when I look thru my illuminated reticule nightforce at O'Dark 30 and can see only the illuminated reticule but nothing else...
if you were shooting dark animals where the reticule did not show up so good, that is the place I would want some type of bright dot but if you can't see chitt thru the scope anyway the illuminated reticule is money wasted.
try this:
take your NF, cover the objective (or leave the objective scope cap closed), turn on the lit retical, and try sighting on stuff with both eyes open. it can be done.
