You can always try to find used barrels for a fair price and use those monoblocks for "rebarreleing".
I have a TCR 87 with the single trigger. I had an '83, but I found the ergonomics of the double set trigger very uncomfortable/awkward for my hand. The safety is also bothersome.
The '87 is fine and these rifles are much nicer than the Encore in my opinion.
