Not necessarily. I tried all the usual fixes on my '68 30/30 that looks like new, including a new mainspring, rear firing pin, and leaf spring. It helped but no cigar. I ordered the wrong 336 firing pin and sent it back. I think I'm going with a one-piece pin for more reliability.

I wonder if he got it fixed?

I recently stopped at a Florida pawn shop and couldn't believe the high prices. $400+ for stuff that looked wore out.
