That is a fact with the Montana. I found a firm grip, but not too firm, results in excellent and repeatable accuracy for me. Basically as if shooting offhand, but with a light assist from the bags. As a note, the same load shoots <1" with me holding it, and >3" if off a bipod with a rear hold only. I'm slow, but I learned...
