I saw the following in one local shop, in the last month:

1961 Featherweight, 30-06 w/ 4x Redfield: $699
Late pre-64 Featherweight, 264 WM w/ 3-9 Leupold: $799
1950s standard rifle w/ monte carlo comb stock and period correct scope, 300 H&H, $899

All three were in good, hunted, condition, all original (save for the scopes) without funky recoil pads or cutouts and extra holes for wonder-sights of the 50s. Bluing was complete, but faded, on all three as well. Just old rifles used and cared for.

Shop around and you can find prices you can live with. BTW, I bought the '61 Featherweight. grin
