I owned two SS lefties and to say it blunt, both were [bleep]. Neither were accurate, one was not head spaced correctly and both were heavy. Holes for the scope bases were not drilled in the right spots either as one had to be shimmed to sight in and one was drilled slightly off center. Both were poorly finished as far as the wood and metal went. Rough as a cobb.

Sold the first one when Winchester was still making these and sold the second about 2-3 years after they stopped. I'll NEVER buy another. I have no problem buying a MRC action and going from there. And I like the latest lefties Win produced and built the WSM's on.

I would absolutely pick a SS Ruger to use as a donor rifle even if someone offered me a SS Win 70 lefty for the same price.


My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.
