Two weaknesses I see in this scope as compared to the 1-4X20 is the more critical eyebox, and the more narrow field of view.

It's pluses are that it is lighter and much more robust, and it has about 248 feet of eye relief. Actually about 5 inches. Important on a hard kicker.

On a .30-30, I'd be all over the 1-4X20 VX-2 by Leupold, like this one on my .44 Mag.
