Although I've never owned one. I still admire the Winchester 94 carbines from the 40's and 50's. The ones with the barrel bands, ramp front sights, checkered steel butt plates and open sights. In 30-30 caliber of course. By the time I planned on buying one 1964 rolled around. Used ones from pre-64 were at, and still are at a premium, Oh well. I've had to settle for the following:
All Marlins

Model 1895 SS in 45/70
336 SC .35 Remington
1894C .357 Magnum
39A .22

Of those my favorite is the 336 SC. I purchased it new in the early 50's with money earned working after school in a small slaughterhouse/meat packing outfit. Shot both deer and elk with it.
