HAve you tried the Sabot muzzleloader bullets that carry a .44 or .45 cal pointed bullet in them? I am thinking along the lines of having two scopes for a rifle, both in identical QD rings that fit on a Weaver/picatinny rail. One dialed in for a heavy DGR load, and maybe one for the Sabot load packing a relatively high BC plastic tipped 300gr 44 caliber bullet. Should be able to get some crazy-azzed speeds out of that, and the Sabot is not going to lead up a barrel, either. One MIGHT be able to even Moly Coat the Sabots! Can one just image an Elk, black bear, wild hog, Zebra or Kudu hit by a 300gr 44 caliber plain lead plastic tipped HP bullet that launched at 3400-3500fps? Maybe a Barnes MZ HP bullet in a Sabot so it holds together? grin

The versatility of this round is maybe one of its strongest points, especially if that experiment works too. The possibilities are legion.

Another way to go is a fixed peep regulated for the heavies, and then just one scope of moderate X's dialed in for the plains game, softer skinned animal loads.
