OK, everybody is crazy for their smart phone. And everybody has their favorite. What I want to know is what is your biggest complaint with your current phone?
Thanks, RS

Battery life iPhone 6
Another note on the iPhone 6 series...Until you get a case for it, the damn thing is like trying to hold onto a greased ice cube; very slippery. But a case, which I would have put on it anyhow, solved that problem.

nobody every accused me of being smart
but I can swim

iPhone 6 battery is certainly an issue.......must be charged almost daily if you use the "smart phone" capabilities at all.
Other minuses are merely an affirmation of what I had suspected when I purchased. A smart phone is not a satisfactory replacement for your computer Internet connection. I'm on the Net a lot, and I will never become a "smart phone" power user. I just can't get close to this interface. At age 68 and retired........my world is a mouse, a keyboard, and a huge flat screen.
I personally find the iPhone at best a workable convenience for those times I'm away from my workstation. Online App for registering game in Wisconsin is easier than calling in by phone.

Yea, if you turn off the options which make it a smart phone then the batteries will last days. Turn them on and the battery will last maybe 35 hours.

I just got my first smart phone, an I Phone Six, about an hour ago.
I only got it because my new Hearing Aids are designed for that model.
I have a laptop and hot spot so don't intend to use it for anything other than a phone.
If I could have used my old flip phone, I'd a stayed with it.

Best thing about them when hunting (if you have a cell signal) is the map and gps function. Can pinpoint where you are at and pull up the aerial pic in google maps.
Gotta think these things have really cut into the handheld gps sales, and I know it has killed camera sales.

I am perfectly happy with my Tundra rugged flip phone. It's twice the "phone" that any smart phone ever was.
Great reception, battery, and speaker. AND I can kick the crap out of her and she keeps on ticking. What else is needed??

My only gripe is that it costs an awful lot for something that only lasts 2-4 years under normal 24/7 use, and the cover to make it waterproof for unexpected swims also was inordinately expensive.

The more I learn about my iphone 6, the more I really enjoy it. I watch very little TV but found out that I can watch TV on it anytime I have phone service. And that's just about everywhere. I like going to pretty remote areas with my camper and have even watched some football on it. Reception is great.
Yeah, I enjoy mine!

You have no idea how liberating it is not to have a hand held device. If I get a call, it's on the good old home landline. Ive not yet had a cell phone, and Im 62, with no intent of ever doing so. I look around, and they proliferate everything, amazing when you take notice of peoples self induced dependence on an electronic device....funny culture we are that's for sure?

Gotta think these things have really cut into the handheld gps sales, and I know it has killed camera sales. Don't need a cell signal for the gps to work. Hunted Wyoming a month ago with iPhone 5 using onXHunt app showing all public and private grounds. No signal. It worked. You have to store the maps ahead of time, but the gps worked perfectly. Best $29 I've spent in a while.

You do know the Govt or employer can listen in on it without you ever knowing. And they can turn it on without you knowing it. And they can pinpoint where you are with ease. I have one for work, it never comes into my house.

The biggest problem I have is that you can't see the screen when you're standing out in the sun light. It drives me crazy because I'm outside a lot while working.
The best thing is when I'm hunting and I know there's rain or a thunderstorm is on the way, I can pull up the radar and see it. That's excellent.

BIL breaks phones like no one I've ever seen (farm hand) till he got a Casio Commando. Says right in the manual if it gets dirty rinse it off in the sink. The screen is supposedly 3 times thicker than any other phone and he had it for a long time before he got a new one. Funny thing though it has a built in pedometer. He drove loader all day once and it said he walked like 38 miles that day.

My biggest complaint, especially with iPhone is, they make a beautifully crafted small phone that feels great in the hand and looks sharp, but then I'm worried about scratches, dings, etc. so end up putting it in an ugly case that doubles the size and bulk of the phone... One downside to iPhones that use their lightning charger is the damn chargers are expensive and they don't last. Other than that, I love iPhones. I had an iPhone 5s the last couple of years and had no complaints other than I wanted a bigger screen so just upgraded to a 6s Plus. It's a BIIIGGG phone, but I love it so far. I couldn't live without Facetime, Siri, and GPS/Map features now.

Edited to add: If you use it with a headphone or headset, you have to use a special adapter that comes with it. It would be a pain if you need that stuff much. Because I've posted again, I will add that the BEST thing about my iPhone is that it there is no coverage in the places I like to frequent off pavement.

I hate typing on a touch screen. I liked my old smart phone with a slide out REAL keypad. I have the galaxy 5.

..its a tool like any other....real handy to have a phone, computer connected to the internet, book, gps, camera, weather station, music player and any number of other things in my pocket.....has saved me money cause i could look up prices there and then and saved me a very uncomfortable night that would have otherwise been spent along a little used road ^^^This^^^ And... I just upgraded from my old iPhone 5s to the IPhone 6 plus model. It literally kicks the shiitt out of the old model. Much better battery, 3 times faster on the web, better display that I can actually read with out searching for my damn reading glasses, all the time. Works great as a flashlight, when you need one, too. I'd rate it at least 3 times better than my old iPhone. Being a Rancher, my truck is my office, and it's a invaluable tool for taking care of things on the go.

And when I dont want to be bothered I can turn the damn thing off! It seems that most can't. Got to be on it all of the time. I get tickled at folks walking around looking at their phone, not knowing what is happening around them. Also a bunch in a room, all on their phones, hell, they might be texting one another. miles They're probably asking each other who the loser without a phone is. Travis

threw my rugged phone in a beer trough one night just to prove a point. Nobody else would. But when they dialed my number it sure enough rang from underwater!! Free beer for me! About 7 years ago wife ran my Casio(Boulder?) flip phone through the washer and it is still kickin'. That phone is tougher than hell. We were sorting cows the other day and my buddy commented that we had walked over 13 miles up and down the alley way. I said how the hell do you know that? Pedometer on his phone. I still haven't got a smart phone for the simple reason that I have no self control and am afraid to end up like all the 'tards who are CONSTANTLY staring at the [bleep]' things. Weather radar would be pretty nice though.

I have an LG. I only turn on the data part for emails when I'm on the road. That saves the battery considerably. Turning the whole thing off at night saves even more.

It's hilarious when the phone dorks lose battery power(which seems to happen a lot). Some of them will go into a mild panic!
It would be a good idea to write down all the stored phone numbers. I need to do that before my phone finally breaks or gets lost.

And they can pinpoint where you are with ease. I have one for work, it never comes into my house. LOL.......good thinking.....leave it in the truck parked in the driveway....they'll never think to look in the house for you. Sorry....but that's funny right there.....

The kids all laugh at my rugged flip phone. Right up to the point where their batteries are shot and my OLD charger does not meet their needs.
But I do offer them the use of my " still going " flipper to make any calls they may need. :-)

Auto-correct. I hate auto-correct. I know what damn words I want to spell! Don't have a clue where it comes up with some of the "words" it thinks I am trying to spell!!
But I know who wrote the program! I tried to spell the word "labor " once, and it came out Lahore!!!! Ya know where Lahore is!!!!!! See!!!!!

True that....I know I'm a curmudgeon but I think everyone will admit that the current obsession with phones can't be healthy. I'm fortunate that there is no cell coverage where I live because my mental instability doesn't need any outside help.

My guess is that for a good many it isn't so much that their their 'smart' phone batteries are to blame for not holding a charge for very long, it's that they hardly ever give the things a rest.

Only thing I don't like is the touch screen interface makes it harder to navigate certain websites. For example, buying hunting stuff from the deer stand can be difficult if not impossible. Clip and pasting cc numbers and other stuff is a pain, even from my tablet. Other than that, love it.

Having an altimeter, barometer, weather radar, newspaper, traffic cameras, pulse detector, and probably a bunch more I haven't used yet, kinda neat to have in your pocket most of the time. I remember on older relative cursing his old house phone, saying it was an invasion of his privacy.

I turned my LG Exalt flip phone on yesterday, just to delete the voicemail that said my monthly $15 was added to my account. Turned it back off. Unless I go fishing, I'll turn it on again next month.
The last time I made a call (and I can't recall exactly when that was...) I had something like seven days of airtime accrued.

I can relate. I always hated the concept that anyone in the WORLD could call me any time they wanted... Whenever I said that out loud, wife/friends/family would look at me like I was demented. Canned the land line, got a cell phone. Turn it on when I want to talk to somebody, turn it off when I don't. It truly IS there for MY convenience, not the rest of the world.

mine is bigger, its about 5x8 and 1/3 of an inch thick....thin enough that it goes unnoticed in the pack that lives with me either in the vehicle im in or whatever....came with the highest rating when i was looking for one in the $100 range a year and a half ago.....used to have a little one like you describe that ran off AA batteries to give a quick boost, it was kinda handy, especially when we were doing 1 hour photos and had loads of AA batteries out of the damn disposable cameras.....used to have gallon ziplocks full of them all atleast half charged...

ditto trying to type on one ! dman you auto correct!

if the GPS is turned off, Samsung batteries will last 3 days. Turning off the auto correct feature on your iPhone is one of the best things you can do. That and training your friends to call instead of texting you.

I speculate it's in the settings somewhere. unfortunately its usually a couple places and you have to turn them all off.... on calls versus texts, most anyone that knows me well calls if its an emergency, texts if it isnt....though alot of that started when i worked around printing presses and couldnt hear my phone ring so texts ment get back when you can and if they needed me now they called the office and its just transferred over even though i dont run presses anymore.... and i do the same. i have no clue what your doing and figure if its not immediately important but still something i need to know or have to tell you a text is better than totally interupting you with a call....

The one complaint i have with the I phone is the battery life.
The reception is another but it depends where you are.
As for it ringing all the time all one has to do is not answer it,that's why they made phone messaging.

I'm with ingwe and gunner500. Don't have a want or a need for a smart phone. There's days I can barely operate a dumb one.... My wife has one, and between it and her tablet, she's on them every waking minute. Drives me nuts......but it's a short trip....just sayin'... maddog

poor battery life with the iPhone. I had the battery replaced under warranty, but it's still eratic, and blows through a charge much quicker than my back up phone, a LG flip phone

My new hearing aids are designed to be "Iphone compatible".
So, I bought an Iphone 6.
And, sure enough, it sends a digital signal directly to the hearing aids which is a very clear signal. I had a conversation with my 7YO Grandaughter yesterday via telecon. THAT'S a first.
But.... my battery only lasted ten hours.
Turns out that I must have Bluetooth on for the hookup to work.
And that Bluetooth runs a battery down very quickly.
So, I guess that I must leave BT off until I get ready to make a call, then engage it just long enough for the call and turn it back off.
It will be too much of a hassle to use it on incoming calls.
It seems to me there should be a feature in the Hearing Aid App that engages and dis engages BT automatically when someone calls. And maybe there is.
My Audiologist knows nothing about cell phones.
Verizon people know nothing about hearing aids.
I'm screwed out of 500+ bucks.

Picked one of those small ones at Walmart in the clearance section for $5 for the wife a couple weeks ago. Then was at a tech conference the next week and got 3 more as a hand-out. Naturally. I've had a Jackery for a while, has more charge than the shotgun sized ones but still fits easily into a pocket. And only $20. http://www.amazon.com/Jackery-Bar-E...&sr=8-5&keywords=jackery+battery

I have an aux battery that recharges itself with a solar panel. Pretty handy little gizmo. I only use it with my golf GPS because my phone battery stays charged for months. But for you phonoholics, it'd be great.
The name on it is SCOSCHE if you want to search for one.

Rocky, I have one by NaturePower. You can clip it to your pack, and let the sun charge your device while you hike. It also charges by USB port. I can get two complete charges for my iPhone with it. Takes a long time to solar charge back up though.

OK, everybody is crazy for their smart phone. And everybody has their favorite. What I want to know is what is your biggest complaint with your current phone?
Thanks, RS None, mines a flip-phone, it's a collectors item, that communist made piece of trash came over on the Mayflower, and I'll keep it that way as long as the thing lives, I dont NEED or WANT that much tech geekery. Same here. My first generation flip phone ( complete with antennae) finally died this spring so I went to get another. Told the sales geek I want the dumbest phone you've got. Looks like a second generation flip phone. No antennae! When these dinosaurs we have die, "WE'RE SCREWED," gonna have ta upgrade.

See!!!!! X1000,,, I hate it with a passion. I have never or would I ever call my buddy Knobby a puppy but my phone thinks that's what I should call him.

Travis Life proof case Works? Travis My son jumped off this cliff into the pond below with his iphone 6 in a life case and it survived. For some reason he took it out of the lifecase and my wife managed to run it through the washing machine. It did not survive.

I don't like not having removable memory and battery. I have a dozen or so apps that I use all the time. It is a real time saver. I have mine set so that I do NOT get emails on it. I can check the emails when I am home. I have a shooting app, welding app, weather app, GPS app, music app, digital level app, several aircraft specific apps, Kindle app, varmint calling app and my favorite, Evernote.

Gene, your saying blu tooth is bad. You didn't get screwed. Just leave it on. You will survive. Get used to the damn hearing aids first. I do want to be able to talk to you at the next get together Sir. I use a old 4 i phone. It's still working I guess for the last 5 years or so, just hadn't gone down to the store to get a 6s? I guess that's the one. Gene when I buy a new phone, I get 4 chargers or charger cords. Leave one in each of two autos, 2 in the house, one at "my" chair and one in bedroom. Take care of it all at purchase. Always have a charger when driving, always have a charge when in the house. Buy the Otter box at the same time. Phone store loves me every 4/5 years. Gene I have a pic of you washing fish at Eds place, I would like to send the picture to you> I can do that but need your phone number. If you want it PM your cell number to me at this site and I'll forward the picture to you. It will come on your phone as a text message. Peggy may like it. Ya I'm looking forward to Gene hearing me. Long story very short. Me and Gene are kind of both hard of hearing. My aids are powerful so I speak lower thinking I'm talking in a normal tone and it is but volume is low. So Gene talks, I understand him but damn if he can hear me at all and understand me, I'm talking to low for him. So we just look at each other mean like. Gene send me that number by Pm.

ditto trying to type on one ! dman you auto correct!
see also: crappy Android internet.
if the GPS is turned off, Samsung batteries will last 3 days. Turning off the auto correct feature on your iPhone is one of the best things you can do. That and training your friends to call instead of texting you. Ive tried to figger that out but I can't find out how! I speculate it's in the settings somewhere. It's a smart phone, you can google for the answer
