How does the recoil from a 260 compare to a 25.06? I was thinking about getting one but didn't want to overlap with a 25.06, I know it can shoot heavier bullets and that I would have to reload as factory amo is almost nil. Anything else I should know about it. Thanks Esox357.

With a M70 in a laminate stock my 25-06 recoils very similar to my Kimber M84 260. I don`t think you will find any difference to speak of.

esox357: when You get your 260 I hope You like it as much as I like mine. I have both the 260 and 25-06 ,both are Rem. 700 and both have 24" Bbls. and are in Synthetic stocks. The 260 is in a Mcmillen and the 25-06 is in a B&C Carbelite.
the 260 is more enjoyable to shoot ,less recoil I think and I enjoy shooting it more than the 25. good luck

FWIW:

The nameof the cartridge has almost NOTHING to do with recoil.

Bullet weight and velocity balanced against weight of the firearm are the critical factors.

If the rifles are both 8 pounds and they are both firing 120 grain bullets at 2800 fps, the recoil will be equal (or essentially equal-- the weight of the powder charge has a little influence).

Figure what bullet you want to shoot, at what velocity, in what rifle for each cartridge. Then go here:

http://www.handloads.com/calc/recoil.asp

And calculte the recoil based upon those parameters.

Good Shooting,

BMT
