Anyone have experience with Sightron's Bigsky line? I love my Meopta Meopro 3-9x42 with BDC reticle but see the value of a turret setup. No I don't want a super chicken.

I only own one and it's on a rifle that doesn't get used much. The rifle is just too nice to take out except on sunny days. That being said, I love the scope. Great glass and the tracking has always been spot on.

Guys use the 24X for silhouette. I had a few and never had any issues. I sold them to stick with one brand, but I would be just as happy to have all Sightrons. The model I liked was discontinued, so I went with another standard.

Big Sky glass is every bit as good as Leupold VX3

I agree. Tracking is also solid, but a bit mushy.

For those that say tracking is good, would y'all care to share amount of rounds, cartridges, mounting systems, ranges used, how have you tested the tracking, and experience with holding zero during use/abuse?

I only used them on 22s. Generally you run 10 minutes from zero. Generally everyone checks zeros to all 4 distances every match. I never heard of any complaints about tracking. No abuse, no recoil, but pretty thorough testing. I can't say what happens when the scope is hunted hard. My experience with Sightron is only range experience.

I have the 3-12x42 with the HHR reticle. Like it. With that reticle, I don't do tracking. Just point and shoot.

Would put it right beside my VX3s.

I have a Big Sky 6x42 and I love it. If I recall correctly they retailed for around $399. SWFA closed them out when sightron ceased production for $249. The glass is very good. I can see to shoot WELL PAST legal shooting light. I have found the tracking to be accurate enough during sight in. I don't plan to spin turrets so I cannot comment on repeatability of adjustments on a continuous basis. I do hope to do a box test in the spring just to see if it'll track correctly. Just a follow up post. I ended up finding a sightron big sky 3-12x42 AO with plex reticle on gunbroker for $265 shipped. Extremely pleased with the price and the glass. Very clear and easy to get behind. Can't vouch for the tracking but the glass looks excellent for the price point.

My local 1000 yard club members swear by Sightron exatrac system for turret dialing. Unfortunately Sightron mostly caters to high power/long range shooters vs hunters. My SII was a great scope/glass.

I'm thinking about putting the 3-12x42 HHR on my Kimber Mt. Ascent. It weighs in at 13.4 oz. and has gotten rave reviews. It's either gonna be that or a Z3 Swarovski for 2x the money. Right now it's wearing a Kahles CL 3-9x42 No.4.

That Kahles is a nice scope. You're only going to save a couple of ounces...

ghostrider272, agreed, approx. 2oz., that and gain a hydrophobic coating, a bit of magnification and loose a paralax knob. The Kahles is phenomenal in low light. I'm sort of waiting for the Kahles to get called into service on another rifle.

Got one on a Benelli R1 and has held up great,Can't say the same for many other scopes that I put on that rifle.

That is a great deal on a great scope.

I had a similarly sized SII model and it had the worst eye relief of anything I ever sat behind. Others who had the same scope voiced similar opinions but I want to be clear that this particular SII was the only model\config I heard these complaints on. Have you had a chance to use the BS at variable powers under adverse conditions?

I can vouch for its excellent tracking. I had a target at 100yds with multiple holes uniformly 1/4" apart moving horizontally as I adjusted. Nice firm clicks too, much like experience I have had with some Weavers.

Honestly all I've done with it so far is do load development at the range. It has stayed on 12 power.
