Yesterday proved decent gopher weather, enough to get out and christen a couple new guns... If thats a Colt Officers Model Match or Match Target ( I can remember which...) then YOU SUCK!

Shrap, what's the the story behind the Burgess? I have a couple of Burgess guns which are extremely rare. I bought a 44-40 rifle several years ago and there were some letters and a catalog that came with it. On the catalog there was a name and phone number, so I called it to see what i could find out. The guy at the other end of the phone was a Burgess collector and though he had nothing to do with the rifle, he had indeed copied the catalog that ended up with my rifle. After some correspondence, I found out he had a collection of Burgess guns and other articles of interest. I bought a takedown version from him and I knew he had this folder, so years later I contacted him and got the folder. It wasn't cheap, but where can you find a gun like that in this condition?

One thing I don't collect are stainless/plastic guns or other guns with fast twist. I keep looking for the unique stuff and have gotten a fair collection. This Colt is a Pre-Trooper marked 357 and the quality of these guns is overlooked, so I capitalize on that and get these kind of guns and leave the mainstream S&W stuff for the rest of the collectors...

Thanks! I got that one wrong! Troopers were a helluva gun...take all kinds of abuse.... Gonna do a little slow twist test in low elevation Texas this coming week. Stay Tuned.... My 1 in 12 twists have treated me well and done things with bullets they weren't supposed to..... I don't mind the tighter twists, but they haven't shown me anything factory barrels haven't been able to show me.....

Awesome guns as always, Shrapnel.. Looks like the shooting was good!
Ingwe, that is what I found about fast twist barrels bout ten years ago! Have fun in Texas! An awesome place! Shoot straight and watch out for serpents! Above all have fun and drive safe!

Flying this time....but there will be bugs and maybe snakes this time, so the Thermacell goes. I like snakes, so that'd just be a good thing. Pork from last trip is friggin excellent...hows yours?

Your ammo can't be in the same case as your rifle, and it can't be in carry-on....so you WILL be paying for two checked bags, coming and going.
