How is the Hornady brass in general? I've read various rumors that it is a bit soft but have no experience with it myself.

All I have used has been really good...

Recently a pal reports that RP brass handles pressures in his 7mm Mashburn better than the Norma cases.

No issues with Remington brass. Seems pretty good.

I've found RP brass to be of higher quality in general than WW cases over the last several years. It may not be Lapua-grade, but it's not half bad most of the time.

For those of you looking for 257 Roberts brass, Cabelas has Remington brass in stock right now for $30 a bag. Kind of surprised with how little RP brass I've seen lately that they would do a run of 257 when it's almost impossible to find even 30-06.

I've recently purchased hornady brass in .243 win; 300 savage; 250 savage; and 444 Marlin; plan on getting some 458 lott as well. I haven't shot any of it enough to comment on it's life; out-of-the-box quality looks good, though. Just happy to find the brass!

I see that hornady is making 6mm Rem. Brass; one would think adding 257 Roberts to their product line wouldn't be much of a stretch...

Hornady seems to be the last, best hope for folks that shoot a lot of old timers; not just brass but ammo too. I often look for ammo and brass for items I see for sale online, and Hornady, more often than not is the company that's making whatever is available.

They seem to have found a way to make money doing what RP (old school, I know) and WW can't or won't. The quality is a bonus. If they ever decide to turn their attention to .22 RF, maybe we'll get some relief there as well (not that I'm having any serious issues there at present).

I was rather surprised to recently learn Hornady makes .358 Winchester ammo. I don't know when they started since I gave up looking for loaded .358 Win years ago and handload it.

Local store has Hornady in 358 Winchester, 6mm Remigton,
25-06, 22-250 etc, but no 257 Roberts or 250 Savage, but they did have Remington ammo in 250 Savage and I've seen Hornady 250 Savage brass for sale on a couple of online stores.

Thanks! I just ordered 2 bags. I have enough Nosler and Winchester for hunting medium game but I hesitate to use it up on varmints. You likely cost a coyote his life! smile

Back in the mid 80s when I bought my first NIB rifle, a Ruger 77 RL in .257, I shot a mix of RP and WW. I never saw any difference in accuracy

On a tangent .. Nosler just started shipping .25 cal 120 grain partitions for the first time in over a year. Midway had some a couple days ago and I saw some on the shelf at Sporstmans Warehouse last night. My guns have always preferred them to the 100 and 115 grain versions.

So I logged onto the three websites where I order most of my components, and added up the kinds of Remington and Winchester rifle brass in stock. The total turned out to be seven, six kinds of Winchester and one Remington. In fact found more Federal component brass (two kinds) available than Remington.

Found a bunch of Hornady, Lapua, Norma and Nosler rifle brass, along with some Bertram, Jamison, Prvi Partizan and Starline. Apparently the Remington/Winchester void is being filled by other brands, which would be expected in any sort of semi-free market, and I expect that to continue. Nosler bought a brass plant and moved it to Oregon last year, and while Norma is making a lot ofNosler brass that might change to a certain extent.

I had a booth at the great eastern sports show in harrisburg pa last February and I walked over to the Remington booth and asked when would we be seeing there brass back on the shelves. Was told it was bad for bussiness for them to sell brass as there having a hard time keep up with there loaded ammo line and more likly we would never see there brass as a reloading component

Thnx guys. I find this thread interesting. I'm fairly well fixed up for brass
EXCEPT I have less 06 brass than all others. I know I have a few 20 ct boxes but tomorrow I'll find out exactly.

This Fall I'll be hunting a new to me 06 and it's been so long since I hunted & killed deer with an 06, I honestly can't remember. I'll have to build my inventory of brass but I have powder & bullets.

Thnx Again

Jerry

Thanks for the notice that Cabela's had 257 Roberts brass. It is in stock at their La Vista store.
