I just sold a 454 fom Rossi, in the M-92 configuration. They ARE in production as well as the 460 in the New England/H&R single shots.
We have had a couple of these in our store

Just got mine from sportsmans warehouse.

16inch, SS, wood furniture. Was going to go synthetic, but once I held her, just couldn�t say no.

I have to agree with everything VAnimrod said. Especially the, �this is a tight and smooth action�, part. Smoother out of the box than my Winchester M94, which I have been using for many years.

Going to try and get her to the range this week.

The .460 nor the .454 is avaliable in the in the New England/H&R single shots. The pressure is too high.

Get a box of .45LCs and a box of .454s.

With the factory irons, mine was dead-on at 50 yards with the elevator ramp all the way up with .45LCs, and with the ramp completely removed for the .454s.

Question for you guys with the .454 Puma - Can you tell me the factory recommended pressure rating? Can they handle the high end .454 loads without springing action?

Have looked at a couple, and like the way they function. And that brown stock/SS I think is "PUUUURRRDY"!

Yes, they are rated for and can handle the full-house .454s without springing.

Factory rating is 65k psi.

First run tests at the 2003 SHOT show gave 2000 fps with a 300 gr. JHP in Hornady's hot .454 loads. That bests factory .45-70 ballistics, and does so from a 6 lbs (tops), 20" barreled carbine.

But, I'm putting a bigger recoil pad on it then, LOL!

That, is a must.

Put a very good, grind to fit pad on there, and have the receiver D&T'd for a receiver peep sight, get the little swing/wing safety thing removed, and you're good to go.

The smoothness thing is something I can comment on as well. A few years ago, I had a Puma 92 rifle in .45 Colt (24" octagon barrel). The lever throw was very stiff. However, I recently bought a little 92 carbine in .45 Colt, and the lever works as smooth as butter, right out of the box. They've improved something in their manufacturing processes in the last few years, as the difference between my first one and this little carbine is like the "before and after" when you get a good smith to smooth everything out. It's impressive!

few years ago I believe and they imposed their quality
control at that time .On another forum there was some
testing done well over 2000 stiff (read full pwr) loads run thru it
and all dimensions check with no change. As taco bell says

Took her to the range yesterday:

I am happy with the fiber-optic sights (HiViz I think). Never used the fiber-optic type before. Nice and bright, right on at 100 with Hornady 300g XTPs. A peep sight would be better, but these are doable. And, these certainly better than the factory sights that came with my other lever guns (Winchester/Marlin).

I am guessing they are using a better pad than in the past, as it tamed the recoil quite well. She is a real pleasure to shoot (my pard agrees). This assumes the Hornadys are full power loads � I believe they are but didn�t bring the chrono to be sure.

As mentioned several times, something needs to be done with that safety on the action. It appears easy enough to remove. Not sure what to do with the hole it leaves. Might try a dab of shoe-goo to hold it in the fire position. Not sure yet, but going to do something.

I am most pleased with the 16 inch, SS, 454 Casull Puma. Thanks to all for your input.
