Isn't the other lake off to the left called Eagle Lake? Glacier fed and doesn't hold any fish. I've hiked that a bunch of times, it's suppose to be 5 miles in making for a 10 mile round trip hike. Good way to start training for sheep hunting too. I thought I recognized that first pic but couldn't place it. Just checked my co-workers atlas, you're right, it is Eagle Lake. I think it's 6 miles in a out hence 12 mi rt. It's a good hike, even going 1/2 way to the bridge by the hanging valley isn't too bad. Here's an awesome resourch for ak hikes http://www.akhs.atfreeweb.com/The one hike I've really wanted to do is the ER nature center to Girdwood.

I hear ya there 458 Lott, i've been wanting to do that hike with the wife and dogs for a few years now. That goes through Crow Creek Pass right? I've hiked the ERNC trail but only about 4 miles or so in and we spent a night on the yurt just off the trail by the river and had a great time. I think we are going to shoot for that ERNC trail to Girdwood hike this year, it will help get our sorry butts in shape for sheep hunting this year!
That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.

I think it was October we hiked out to the rapids yurt. Awesome view from the deck, and such a wonderful sound with the water in the river. Didn't realize until trying to fall asleep that the yurt seems to act like a drum and echo and you could really hear the water all night long! The wood stove is nice, but seems to have two settings, hot as you lie on top of you sleeping bag, then off when you wake up and crawl in the bag.
We hiked another mile out to Echo bend, but thats the furthest we've been out in the valley.

I'm bored...let's pick on Washington.
I saw a movie where only the military and the police had guns. It was called Schindler's List.
Miss Alaksa? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Well first, it should be spelled Alaska. Unfortunately that is the Male of the species. But it was a good try. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

Naw...we don't need that gallon thermos filled with coffee for the trip.
It's too cold to go ice fishing.
I think I'll shave my beard.
Nope...I've got enough wood.
Nope ...I've got enough Caribou.

How about: "That's my _________, go get your own!" (fill in the blank with truck, house, boat, gun, rod, food, or anything else you might need).
Not funny, but true to my experience........
