I'm told there's DBM setups that'll give over 3" COAL with a M7, but I don't know the details.

To my understanding, the magazine box of the Seven and the 700 are exactly the same as they come from the factory. What will fit one, will fit the other.
The shorterness of the Seven is in the rear bridge, not the box. I may have misspoke so I apologize, but my point was that there are some constraints with the model 7 that are not there with a 700. I'm pretty sure you can't put a Wyatts in a Mod 7.

Here is a nice comparison (with pics) between the Seven and 700 actions. A Wyatt's box can be made to fit if necessary by going forward with the cutout instead of rearward, but that is not something that I would recommend due to more difficult feeding and leaving less metal in the bolt lug abatement.
