My bud's 6 lb'er from yesterday.. in brackish water on the saltwater side of the locks we were fishing.

Hit a big ZaraSpook.

That is a very nice fish. Not sure what a ZaraSpook is. My daughter caught one right at 5lbs out of our farm pond earlier this spring. He hit a Panther Martin, which I tend to use to catch big bream or smallmouth in the rivers.

A ZaraSpook is a large, thick stick lure type topwater plug. It's best known for the "walking the dog" technique. An old timer's nickname is "broomstick". Many of us as kids used to whittle them out of broomsticks, paint them up, screw some hooks into them and go plugging.

Panther Martin is a inline spinner sorta like a Mepps.They catch the heck outa fish.The only thing about inline spinners, unless they're set up weedless, they hang up pretty easy with that treble hook.

Nice. It's good to know someone knows what a spook is. I think of a Panther Martin as a smaller trout spinner. Always used bigger Rooster Spins for bass.

Nothing like walkin' the dog with a Spook! Dad taught me how to work a Zara Spook a long, long time ago. Dad was fishing bass way back in the day, and lots of the lures his generation used set the path for the way we fish today. I still have about a half dozen old beat up Shannon Twin Spins, which were a very early version of the spinnerbait. I still throw Creek Chub Pikie Minnows around any rip rap we're working. Just 'cuz this stuff's old, doesn't mean it doesn't work any more.

Shannon Twin Spin was pretty weedless. Pretty hard to find now. Been 50yrs since i used one. Found a good condition Hawiian Wiggler at a garage sale a couple years ago though.
Big bass arent as good to eat as those smaller afaic.

LD, it sure would be nice to catch some of those peacock bass they have in south Fl in places now. I wish Texas had them.

I'm looking at my FB timeline last night and there's this vid of this really hawt blonde in not really skimpy clothes, but nice, tight attire. She's walking out on this deserted bridge at night and I thought, "here we go, get them duds off baby,". Didn't have sound on. Then I realize it's some bs from some paranormal page and she's investigating some abandoned bridge in St. Louis or someplace. I almost commented and said next time take your clothes off and the video will be 100% better.

Actually, he doesn't drink. But, he does like to eat.

jaguar, they're all over the place now. They fight like hell. Sometimes they're so easy to catch, it's not much challenge. When they're on the beds, they'll grab just about anything to move it out of their bed, like bottlecaps.
Neighbor kids told me there are some big ones slinkin around the docks across the street from my house in the evenings. I get along well with those neighbors on the lake and can fish their docks any time. Been busy last few days. But, might take a shot tonight.

Gotta go pick up some .38 spl and .357 brass all the way down in Homestead just before you get to the Keys today that I traded a chitload of .308's and .243's for. Should have some time to make a few casts later.
