My everyday truck Is an '06 regular cab Silverado. 230k. Runs good. No rust. 2 places of missing clear coat on the hood.
How many of the folks with rust issues drive on salty roads?

I drove 3 Dodge trucks, first 2 were 4 wheel drive that I liked a lot, the 3rd was not and it was just OK.
I got a Z-71 this time. I've really liked the truck, but 2 problems. First one is annoying--- occasionally a trouble light comes on about "trailer braking system" crap. Internet says is common and unfixable. Second one has my angry-- my friend and I both have 2014 models and both are leaking air conditioner freon. Internet says this is very common! and told parts are backordered and likely to fail also. I've got to take it to get fixed.

My 2000 SIlverado has an A/C that will make you wear a coat in the summer, I am so glad it has never needed any service for that. But, I do have a check engine light that has been on for about 8 years, Also, the "blinker noise" comes on and off at random, stops when I hit the brakes. Only has 230,000 miles on it, so I hate to think about replacing with a $45,000 truck.

I have had a series of Chevrolet 1/2 tons and now 3/4 tons. 68, 72, 76, 81, 97, 04, all 1/2 tons 07 gas 3/4 ton, 08 and finally 14 diesel. I have driven up to 400k miles on several of the younger year trucks and currently have 25.5 k on the 14. Had cracked heads on one, recalls on several, and normal wear and tear on most, just like my friends with Dodges, Fords, and Toyotas.

How many of the folks with rust issues drive on salty roads? My 2000 has a lot of rust underneath from 7 years in Alaska.

My '04 Z71 4x4 has 242,000+ on it and still runs great, albeit with a few small patches of rust on the rocker panels. Two or three wheel bearings over the years have been the only serious issues I've had. It is now my hunting and fishing rig. Recently bought a '13 with 47,000+ miles, same configuration, for work. It took me a while to get past the junk they put out in the late '70's, but this is the third one I've had since about '03 and they have all been reliable and long lasting.
The biggest problem our country has is not systemic racism, it's systemic stupidity.

00 Z-71 Flare Side with 340,000. Had to rebuild the transmission at the 330 mark, water pump at 150, Fuel pump at 220 and a new compressor around the 250 mark. My next truck will be a Silverado again.
A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”

I've pissed on a few. But never really stood there to admire it.
Camp is where you make it.
