After being at curmans place, and seeing Ben's FB pics I know just how close that fire came. I'm wondering how the neighbor just across the fence fared. It ain't over yet....

That's a life changer for sure. Best of luck on the fire.

Any word?

I made Reubens and got slightly drunk.

The curman's seemed to have pulled through.

Haha! Good in both cases.

We went through Winnet one time to fight fire up near Dove Tail. We made fire camp at the Dove Tail school.

My engine boss stopped in Winnet to buy some stuff and use the bathroom. We had just come from Lewistown and I know he used the can before we left.

Worried, I asked him if he was sick or something, he said no.....you just never, ever pass up the opportunity to use a flush toilet when you are fighting fire.

Glad the Curmans are in good shape for the evening.

I hate looking at the aftermath of a forest/brush fire but I'm sure glad you're all safe Ben.

I'm glad your place survived Ben. Big fires wiped out a lot of my county and the adjoining one two summers ago. It was tough to watch, and even tougher for the owners.

Similar to my boss' rule when we're traveling "first rule is never pass up free coffee or a bathroom"

Glad to hear the fire has been diverted for now.

Jim if you would have kept going straight from Dovetail school, about 23 miles later you would be at my place... Don, none of the places here in the bottom have been burned.... It was about ten yards from the two at the base of the hill. Last night was crazy to watch, it was wanting to jump the road across the river but they were backburning it. We aint out of the woods yet but with every bit that burns, we get safer I guess? Laffin. Thanks guys

That is good news!

Prayers continue form here for all the folks facing this fire.

So we're praying, and you're getting drunk. About par for this course.

Whew! Good news.

I prayed hard, with some recent incentive: Last week a good friend of mine lost his house burned to the ground in a forest fire west of Williams Lake, BC. He and his wife stayed on and kept fighting the fire with ranchers and nearby Rez folks to save other houses and barns.
