I have a ZA 5 HD 2-10x40. Is that the same scope? I bought mine from Camera-land a few years ago when they were the all the rage. Everyone was comparing them to the Zeiss Conquest. EuroOptic has them for $549 with the German no 4, but the mino-plex is on sale for only $339. http://www.eurooptic.com/minox-riflescopes-za-5-hd.aspx

I bought the 3x9 when it was the rage here, the ocular became loose, and one could peer through the scope at a target and move the reticle relative to a 100 yard bullseye by wiggling the ocular up and down sent it back and they said it was an O ring problem that was common in that model, they fixed it, I sold it for $150.00.00

Minox did acknowledge a problem like you describe with their early offerings here in the states but quickly rectified it. I had one of those, and they sent me a new replacement. Some of their higher-end glass is quite impressive. Saddlering-You got a good deal there. Let us know how you like it.

BT I paid almost $400 for it IIRC. So no Vooortex or Minox or Barska scopes in my immediate future.

Like I noted, the very early offerings did have a problem like the one you described. In fact, I sent one back because of it and had a new one in just a few days. The replacement performed very well for me. You should have no worries with the current production models.

No manufacturer is perfect. I have sent back upper-end Leupolds and 2 Zeiss Victory HTs among others .A couple years ago I had a 30mm Zeiss Conquest that only had 44 clicks of windage. They replaced it since it was discontinued, and the Conquest DL that I received had an illumination system that did not work from the moment I got it. Right now I have a Schmidt Bender Polar 3-12x54 (purchased new this year) that has a piece of lint or dust visible inside of the tube. No, that shouldn't happen with something that expensive, but it does. Everyone makes mistakes, and sometimes they escape even the most well-respected factories. I can overlook the mistakes as long as customer service handles it in an appropriate and timely manner. That is what leaves a lasting impression with me.

So, they acknowledged and repaired the issue for free and you feel that was burning you? Wow...

It is/was a poor design and I am happy to share the story with all. What good does a great warranty do for you when you miss or wound an animal?

With the proper o-ring they solved the problem and the "design" issue and that makes them bad? Just reloaded for a Kimber in 338wm that caused a friend to get kicked around by a big bull moose last fall... excess headspace required a false shoulder .125" longer than SAAMI... Kimber CS yawned. Kimber CS sucks... Minox did the right thing...

I'm done with Minox. Scope changed point of impact on a hunt. Will not go down that road again. Thing is, I was mpressed with the glass and really liked the reticle....
