Rem Faux TI Mnt rifle .338-06, 2.5X8, 180 AB's
Kimber Montana, 7mm-08, 2.5X8, 145 Speer GS's
Rem Mnt rifle .280, not sure what scope yet, going to try 150 PT's, running out of time for this, maybe next year.
Slim chance, but for back-up - Ruger 77/357mag or Marlin 1894 .357mag.

As usual, a Sharps 1874 shooting lead paper patched bullets over a case full of black powder. This year, the caliber will be a 40-65. After 40 plus years, it never gets old.

Going to start with my Ruger M77 MarkII in 280Rem. It's the first quality rifle I ever owned and I've had it for about 10yrs now. The only animal I've ever seen with that rifle in my hands was a coyote that didn't survive the encounter. I plan to carry it until I get a deer with it. 140gr NBT over IMR4831 at a leisurely 2830fps.

If I can get the first kill with that rifle, I've got a whole safe full of choices for the rest of the season. Really wanting to get a deer with a 243 and a 223.

Those who must raise their voice to get their point across are generally not intelligent enough to do so in any other way.

Dick, that's some impressive wood!

In Alabama I will be using my MRC X2 in 7mm08. In Ohio I will be using my Marlin 444 levergun. I may take my Ruger 44 Carbine to Ohio as well. Just for the heck of it.

For KY I’ll use my .260 with a 120 grain ETip.
Or the 708 with 120 BT

But for IN will start with my suppressed 243 with 105 hybrid. Someone told me they kill deer most assuredly dead....

Ready for this year:
1954 Remington 760 BDL in 35 Rem. with real nice wood.
Remington 700 Classic in 6.5x55.
Ruger 44 finger grove Carbine
Robert Hart 700 in 338 Federal
Ruger American in 450 BM.
As with most folks the style of hunting and weather will have a large factor in what gets carried each day.
Best of luck to all.

Those 44 finger groove carbines are real bad about jamming ,but I'll take it off your hands.

For ohio...in line muzzle loader like always...90 grains of powder and a saboted Hornady pistol bullet. For Pennsylvania, 6.5x55. Have not decided but probably a Hornady 129 with imr4350.

The 25-06 Rem 700 CDL, 6x Leupold & 115 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip combo worked well again last weekend:

It's become my favorite deer rifle over the past 12 years.

We are heading out tomorrow for a whitetail hunt.. Most likely the last deer hunt of the season. Don't travel out of state any more, and with my fine dogs, I would soon chase birds than bucks.. Plus we have a local elk season that runs though the first of the year..

Already got one nice mulie with my #1 in .300 H & H.. 165 gr. Sierra BTHP..

Taking the following with me.. Conditions change on this hunt so here goes..

My adl .22-250 with 63 gr Sierra semi pointed... This is mainly my turkey rifle.. But over the years it has killed a pile of deer when hunting out of state..
My adl .25-06 with 100 gr. Sierra flat base.. Lots of deer and antelope have fallen to this one also.
My custom 7mm Rem, Mag. This is my back up rifle incase a long long shot must be taken.. My wife's favorite the last years she hunted..
The #1 .300 H & H mentioned earlier..
A BDL in .375 H & H with 300 gr. WW Silvertips..Haven't used this one much.. It has taken antelope, moose, and elk.. Sometimes we hunt heavy brush in the bottoms.. Ideal for that..
Have a good save hunt..

In VA, it's ML first, in two weeks, then two weeks later on this side of the Blue Ridge, anything goes through the first week in January.

WV rifle season opens the Monday of Thanksgiving week, runs for two weeks, followed by a week of ML, then odd bits of antlerless season.

It'll be my Knight Ultralight first followed by my as-yet unblooded 1948 FN .270, then anybody's guess after that. I've got a new Ruger 1V .243, a CZ 6.5 Grendel, my trusty Hawkeye Predator .308, and the Remington Model Six .30/06 I traded into yesterday. Kinda leaning towards the Grendel because I've never whacked one with one of those.

Got a .223 Hawkeye in the pipe for next week, in case I want to try my hand at stunt-shooting.

I have a few different ones. However the one I use the most is my Remington 750 Woodsmaster Carbine 30-06. I have a Leupold VX-2 2-7x33 Scope on it. It's my 2 to 200 yard gun. It's nice and handy with it's 18.5" barrel and the scope works good in the woods.

NYH1.
