The Olmeca Altos Plata is about 99% as good as Patron. It's better than Cazadores or Camarena in my opinion. It has won awards and if often recommended in the less expensive brands. Since I've been drinking it,I see no reason to pay 3 times more for Patron.

Chamucos Reposado is one of the most drinkable liquors I've ever found.

But there's a demon on the label for a reason.

My favorite so far is Porfidio but it's too expensive for anything but a special occasion. (for me anyway)

Hornitos or any of the other 100% blue agave are just fine by me.

Embrace diversity, drink mescal.
It thought me to stick to bourbon, scotch and gin.

I have a fondness for 1800 gold. Affordable and smooth.

Gran Centenario Añjeo- currently my go to mid priced.

If you got a bigger wallet try Gran Centenario Leyenda if you can find it.

If you can find it, Codiga 1530 Rosa. It is finished in wine barrels and one of the most unique tequilas I've tried.

As an FYI most of the better ones are.

Try Espolon reposado. $20, smooth enough to sip straight, and still blends great in a margarita. They have a blanco too if that's more your style.

Don Julio 70 or Jose Cuervo Family Reserve--

I've spent the past several months in Mexico and these 2 are at the top of my list.

Yes they are. Codiga rests it's Rosa in used Napa Cabernet barrels which impart a pink tint to the tequila. The flavor profile, beyond agave, is not one of wine but more like a very very light hibiscus or something of that nature. Anyway, I like trying new tequilas and this one warrants a second bottle.

We have one small liquor store in town.

Earlier this summer my wife wanted margaritas so being a total tequila rookie I bought a bottle of Patron Silver.

$58! But so smooth, at least IMHO. 4-5 bottles later mostly shots....

They are several mentioned in this thread I will have to try. There are two that my cousin has that cost a lot of money that are great but their name escapes me.
I've only had a couple of snifters of Cabo Wabo (same cousin had it) it was so old it was made when Sammy Hagar still owned the company. it was great.

Right now I have a bottle of Milagra reposado and I like it a lot!l for 35-40$

my daughter bought me some some QUI platinum extra anejo. even though it is anejo is abought clear because of distilling. It is fantastic but expensive at about 75$ a bottle.

The republic Tequila in the Texas shaped bottles are good.

I also like Patron.

So many good (and bad tequilas) out there.

Thanks for the suggestions I may have to try some of the ones mentioned.

I like to drink good tequila straight in a snifter.

Yup the stuff makes me break out in handcuffs.

I break out in cuts, bruises, contusions, broken bones, and enemies.

When I drink tequila, I get mean. Very, very mean. I will fight anyone and everyone.

So, I no longer drink tequila.
