Earlier today I made a thread about which rifle whether it was the carbon light the Ridgeline or the Field craft. After fondling all three of them today I have decided to go with the field craft. My longest shot will be five or 600 yards and realistically in the 200-300 yard range. This rifle will be used for everything from white tails and coyotes in the east to elk in the west and moose in Alaska. The questionnaires 308 or 30-06?

Creedmore...I heard the Scandavians killed the hell out of moose with a roundnose out of a 6.5x55.

Of those two, 308 gets my vote. However, while my needs essentially mirror what you listed, minus Moose, I’m thinking 6.5 Creedmoor.

If I could afford to hunt every kind of big game(and coyotes) all over the country then surely I could find a way to pack TWO different rifles. But if I gotta choose one of those for moose and elk, and whatever giant bear I might accidentally run across, I'll take a 30-06 😂

Fieldcraft lists their ten model configuarations at between 5 and 6 pounds. Consideringt a 6# '06 with scope and rings may go something under 7#'s, I think you would grow weary of that recoil with a 180 gr bullet. I'd say a good compromise would be the .308 Win..

Yes. As much as I like the -06, the Fieldcraft would not be my choice of platform.

Not sure I understand the “... longest shot will be five or 600 yards and realistically in the 200-300 yard range.” Is that saying 500-600 yards is unrealistic for you to make? You did say you will be making a 500 or 600 yard shot. Do you reload? 308 if don’t 30-06 MAYBE if you do.
