In a rifle as light as the Fieldcraft, the 30-06 is going to let you know it's there............

I own a 375 HH for real big stuff.
Most shots will be 200-300 but some opportunity for 500-600 wil practice to further but just practice.

I don’t have a FC in 30/06, but I do have a NULA in said caliber. I don’t consider it obnoxious at all.

I don’t have a FC in 30/06, but I do have a NULA in said caliber. I don’t consider it obnoxious at all. It's not bad at all. It will be more than a .308 (and 6.5), but it won't be awful. The ~1 lb difference in a long action '06 with a 24" #2 over a short action with a shorter barreled #1 eats up a bit of the recoil difference.

I like the 300 win. Just no available in the Field craft. Recoil is subjective. I’m 6’5 300 so I absorb some recoil

30-06... only because of the no.2 barrel contour. If the 308 had the same contour that would be my choice.

You can't go wrong with the 308, I still have a couple and use 155 scenars in all of them. I'm just really liking my mild mannered 6.5CM. I'm looking hard at a fieldcraft in 6.5CM now too.
