I bought a Winchester M70 in 300 H&H mag just to have and it has become the favorite gun of my 2 sons and daughter -in-law.

For me, it would be this Remington 760 in .35 Remington that I just recently picked up, been looking for a pristine one for years, and I don't think this one has ever been fired. 1979 vintage according to Remington. I have a 760 carbine in 30-06 that can do everything this one can do, and probably even better, but a 760 in .35 Remington is simply the epitome of coolness as far as I am concerned. ![[Linked Image]](http://i64.tinypic.com/161nx8y.jpg) The other one I'd buy just for the hell of it if I could find one in pristine condition would be a Remington 600 with the laminated stock and ventilated rib in 350 Remington Magnum, even though I don't have any kind of need for it.

16Bore; Good evening to you sir, I hope all is well in your world. Thanks for the interesting thread and the reading it's provided. Quite an eclectic bunch of responses for sure. For me personally, lately I've been intrigued by the idea of having a 92 clone in .357/.38SPL with a trapper length barrel - maybe a Chiappa since they don't have any goofy extra safeties tacked on. I need one like a third nostril, but seem to be trolling the Canuck sites looking for one nightly somehow....  We'll see if I can find one on this side of the medicine line or not before this ague drifts away. All the best to you and yours as we head into winter 16Bore. Dwayne

Lotsa threads about "best" rifle for long range, light, mountain, price, yadda yadda....But what would you buy just for the hell of it? Sure, you might hunt with it, but not necessarily a "purpose" driven choice or some fang dangled cartridge that's cool for the moment.
For me, I think it might be one of the circa 1980'ish pimped out Weatherby's in 257 or a jacked up Mauser actioned 7x57 with open sights. Kinda Robert Ruark Africa style.
No real reason, just kinda cool to have sorta thing.
.....................Well if given the choice amongst many possibilities, I just might go with a 6.5/300 Wby Ultralite MK5......Long range? Yep......Light? Good enough.....For mountains? Absolutely.....Price? Not cheap........Cool? Yup and quite the conversation piece as well......The ballistic king of the 6.5 family.

Well you asked....
I'd love to have a 416 Rem Mag in either a M 70 or 700. Obviously I don't need one but I've been intrigued with the round since it was introduced. I just want to PLAY with it and say, " I have a 416 RM".
I'm in a rather small fraternity of 8 mm Rem Mag owners--"that like it". I guess that'll have to do.

How about a full on custom Ruger No.1 in 256 Newton!
Spent way, WAY too much money on it, and doesn't do anything that a dozen other No. 1's won't do, but it sure has the "cool" factor nailed!

As above, most of mine are just for the hell of it. Most recently a RH Ruger African chambered in .275 Rigby because I have never owned a 7x57. A few months before that, a LH Win M70 chambered .375H&H just because the "price was right". Before that... Anyone of my .243's or .270's would be totally sufficient for everything I hunt.

I have a Cooper custom classic in .30-06 with several options, like full-length bedding, red pad, inletted sling eyelets, jeweled bolt, etc. Since I already have 6 other .30-06 rifles, the Cooper is definitely "just for the hell of it". It'll probably never go hunting, but it's nice to fondle and a fun range toy. It wears a Leupold 6x42mm in Talley steel mounts.
