I have not seen any on the market, and Midway does not show any. I'd likely just try some 120-125gr ammo like the Deer Season XP and see what he thinks about it.

The creed is a somewhat light recoiling cartridge to begin with. Find ammo with the lightest bullet you can and have the young man fire away!

My 10 year old niece who may weigh 60#'s shoots my 6.5 Creedmoor with no problem with Hornady Precision Hunter Ammo........just teach them how to shoot the gun properly...he'll have no problem!!

The 6.5 Creedmoor is a great round all together, especially for kids!!

Standard loads are pretty close to 243. How much less do they need.

She's probably tougher than alot of people that post here though Hanco. You'd have to be proud as hell of her!

As has been mentioned, the CM is pretty light recoiling anyway. Have him put a hunting coat on and give it a go. I suspect he'll look at you and smile broadly.

I second the light load stuff, but not the barnes 120grain VOR-TX load. Barnes loads although lighter are hot, and kick like a mule when you go weight for caliber for some reason.

the 150's and 165's in my 300WSM kick harder than 3 different 180gr. loads I've put through the same gun.

Why not reload with reduced loadings?

Well, he doesn't reload.

Don't even have a Creed yet, but yesterday noticed at Wally Whirled saw that Winchester Deer Season load is less than $18 per box.

Couple that with current rebate of $5 per box means I can get 200 rounds and kill a lot of stuff for 73 cents a shot.

Yes, this may be the first time I buy ammo for a rifle I don't have!

In the OP's case, however, he can splurge less than $13 a box to see if the youngster can handle it.

Or get somebody that loads to roll him some 100 gr. BTs at about 2,800 fps.

My youngest was a trapshooter at 11 and 75 pounds. He picked my .350 RM to kill his first deer because it kicked less than his 12 ga.

Why are you worried about the recoil? Has he shot bigger guns and whined about it? I have seen little girls shoot .308s and whatever, because they were not taught to fear the recoil. If you make a big deal about it, then the kid will, too. If he cannot handle a Creed, then maybe he had better stick to computer games. The Creed is about as mild as it gets, with 120ish-grain bullets, unless you short-change him and drop down to a .22 caliber center-fire.

Hanco,
Outstanding! Just look at that young lady's smile. Maybe the future of hunting in this country will be OK. 😎

Hornady makes a Precision Hunter 6.5 Creed with a 103 gr bullet, somewhere around $30 a box.

are you sure that is either a 123 grain bullet? or are you confusing it with the 6mm Creedmoor which Hornady makes a 103 grain bullet for the 243/ 6mm calibers?

I am starting to think that the 6.5 or 6 would be a good way for my daughter to start.

A lighter recoil load would be swell.

I started with a M94 30-30. I wont do that to her!

I suspect that with a rifle light enough to be comfortable for a kid, a full power Creedmoor round would have some recoil.
