I primarily hunted deer this year with my 1942 Longbranch Enfield SMLE 303. I didn't take a deer this year, I had my Elk early and didn't really need the meat. I didn't get a good opportunity at a nice buck, so I let the rest walk.

If guns kill people, does that mean I can blame misspelled words on my pencil?

Thompson Center Contender Carbine, MGM 35 Rem 20" barrel, Leupold 4X compac Nice rig.....you think hunting with a .35 rem you would see a visible hole in your deer.

No killing yet. I have come to really enjoy lightweight rifles with 20 inch barrels. They fit in between the shooting rails of my 2 person ladder stand. I leave them resting on my lap most of the time. Ruger UL 7mm-08, Savage LWH 6.5 Creedmoor, Ruger UL 257 Roberts and Savage LWH 223. The savage rifles are appreciably more accurate than the Rugers, but it matters not where we hunt. A 100 yard shot would be long. Leupold Glass on all of them. Sorry I can't figure out how to post pics, but here's a link. https://uniim1.shutterfly.com/ng/se...dia/33457296126/large/1509745712/enhance

Paul, I understand. I got a Ruger 77 UL 308 shortly after they came out. I thoroughly enjoyed hunting it in close quarters.
I honestly can't remember which I got first. Ruger UL or Win 70 XTR FTWT ? ? THOSE 2 are the reason I've been hooked on 'light' rifles since @1981.

Just got a Savage 99 in 308. I’m eager to sight it in. Hope to hunt with it this season.

270 this year, though usually a 308. However, truth is I don’t often shoot deer.

I'm changing things up here at the end of my season.
I have 3 days after Christmas and I broke out my 70 Black Shadow 300 WM last night. I put a new scope on it before season and I like the rifle/stock/scope/cartridge. During these 3 days Does & Bucks are legal.
I'm really focused on a particular FREAK buck.

Well done men, a lot of good hunting this year, I took six deer this year, five with a 40-65 Sharps rifle with 400 gr paper patch bullets and one with a 45-110 Sharps and 530 gr paper patch bullets. It was a hell of a year.

1st doe was during archery season with a Mission MXB320 crossbow. Rifle season I took a nice buck with the ol 270, early 70s M700BDL, PacNor barrel, B&C Alaskan II stock, VXII 3-9x42. 140 gr Hornady Interlock sp. hope to get a doe in the late doe season with a 1979 Marlin 336, rebored to 38-55, shooting homecast 250 gr bullets at around 1600 fps
