I work at a bank and I checked one time and was told that a stop payment could be issued for a customer. We ended up not doing it. Yes...there may be different types of "cashier's checks" and laws may vary. Not sure about that.

A stop payment doesn't do any good if the guy cashes the check as soon as he gets it.

I ALWAYS give my phone number & e-mail with my information when buying or selling, and expect the same from anyone I’m dealing with. Communication is essential. Number of posts are not necessarily a factor, as there are a lot of newbies around, BUT it certainly requires communication prior to consummating the deal. Good luck.

Correct. The bank that issued would cash it.

Any bank would cash it. The only thing they might do is call and check routing number and because it is guaranteed funds, if someone called they would cash it either way

I can say with 100% certainty that JCM didn't back out. Postal MO was sent to him and he received it.

Given what this guys mug shot looks like, I'm going to pass on the suggestion of what to do with his mother.

I was going to agree that 111 posts is pretty light to do business with and then I looked at my own post total. frown

I think join date is more important that the number of posts. I for one lurk a lot, just do not post much.

I wish one of these scammers would get the ever loving schidt kicked out of 'em. I detest a thief.

My mom died Jan.1, was buried Jan 4. She applied for 3 credit cards sometime in between. Got the letters in the mail within days of the funeral. The investigator we talked to said he sees it every day. Scammers read the obits in the paper. We're thinking it had to be someone at the nursing home, no one else had my brothers home address where the letters were sent.

Most people don't really want the truth.

They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.
