Elmer stood up and yelled at Jack, take that stupid little hat you wear and that gay rifle you always use and get the *!@K out of here. Elmer was the first to believe that the 270 is gay.

And you own and are proud of this story? The man who is supposed to have acted that way is an idol for many here? I hope the story isn't true, and I doubt it, but if it is, Elmer's lucky he wasn't spitting out teeth at some point from getting bashed in the mouth with the butt of a gay rifle by a man with a stupid little hat.

He would’ve probable hired the guide to do it for him! wink

That's not the way I heard it, that claim belongs to the 30-06.

As I Remember Capstick
By Tink Nathan

"Peter told me of his amazing life....

In one of his books, Peter wrote that he had weekly letters from young Americans who aspired to become a
professional hunter in Africa. Peter said in print an American would have a better chance of winning the Victoria Cross
than to become a professional hunter in Africa....
...Peter was a giant of a man, with a heart as big as Africa, yet strong and straight as a new arrow. With out a doubt,
Peter was one of the finest, if not the finest writer of our age. A man who turned his back on fortune, the family Hathaway
shirt business, and went of into the jungles of Viet Nam to fight in freedoms name as a green beret officer,
an American special forces soldier, and to Africa to fulfill a childs dream. Peter, you did it all so bloody well too.
You never got a client killed, you never got tossed in jail and you never stepped on a mamba. You lived your life,
every seconds worth to THE MAX, and you were a gentleman the whole time. You were a mans man, a man that
women lionized, and you did America proud. You showed Africa just what could do when the chips were down.."

That was a Remington 700 "C" Grade from their custom shop. One of the few I regret selling. Bought it cheap and sold it for filthy lucre during a period of financial embarrassment.

Beautiful wood and one of the best triggers orf all the Remingtons I've owned.

ya!

BTW, that was a "two-fer at +/- 170 yds with factory 140 gr. Cor-Lokts IIRC.

So, I had a .270 when I was a Senior in High School.

I promptly sold it and joined the Marines.

Was I just compensating?

Sheesh...then in Boot Camp I had an M-16 locked onto the foot of my bunk. If the .270 is gay, the 5.56 is a Eunuch.

I noticed that gun too and it was a beauty, too bad you had to send it down the road.

Shot a deer on the point of the shoulder. Didn't recover it. Where is the proof it was hit on the point of the shoulder? This guy really needs to find a new hobby.
