I had this one made in 2015 when they offered the GCNM in a 70 Series.

A Remington Rand isn’t technically a Colt Can't argue that. I guess it's about as close to some of the really nice vintage pieces posted here as I can get. Nice stuff.

Sold this one a few years ago. Not a Colt, so technically it doesn't belong here.

Still have this one, and it is an actual Colt, a Government Model made in 1961. I carried it for a few years, IWB. Bone stock, except for the grips. Still have the factory grips, but they came with hard rubber factory grips at that time, and this gun deserves better.

Colt series 70 frame and a Colt GI hard slide from the '50's. On its 2nd barrel and 3rd tune-up. Latest accuracy job looks like the best. Bob 10 shots, 50 yds, machine rest. As good as ever

Sold this one a few years ago. Not a Colt, so technically it doesn't belong here. Yep. One of mine was a Springfield Armory. Guess it slipped by because the pic wasn't very close-up.

I want a Colt Commander 70 series. Bucket list! That was one of my first sought after guns, too, back when they were current production, back in the early 1980s. I had one on order for almost a year. They were about as hard to come by back then as an S&W Model 29 with a six inch barrel (Dirty Harry's Gun). In both cases I eventually compromised. I went ahead and ordered a Model 57 S&W, which was easily obtained, and a standard Government Model, Mark IV, Series 70, also easily obtained. Eventually, decades later, I bought a couple of Model 29s on the used market, but never a Series 70 Commander.

I had a Commander once upon a time, but that's the only one. Just about right for CCW.

Here is my old 70 Series that prior to rebuild/re-finish/semi-retirement, was my "do everything" 1911 for a number of years. It has killed elk, deer, ground squirrels, been used in felony takedowns, used for USPSA, and about anything you can imagine.

1970s Colt Lightweight Commander. A true mix of Old School and new.
