Many Americans have protested in the name of”social justice”.... and most of them suffered the consequences.

Ask Colin Kaepernick what the consequence of his social reform agenda were/are.....

Part of the whole protest process IS the consequences....without them, it isn’t much of a statement.... it’s just recess

Yup....another reason the USA is 18th in the world in education.

The simple fact THAT hILLARY GOT ANYWHERE NEAR 1/2 THE VOTE IN THE LAST ELECTION IS ABSOLUTE PROOF THAT OUR EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM HAS FAILED US.

Should students protesting guns be punished for missing class? Of course they should. Otherwise it is a free day to skip school and costs the student nothing. Things that cost nothing mean nothing. No penalty is an incentive to walk out, or was for every boy I knew in high school. Protests should cost the protester something, and that is their main point of seriousness. Whether we agreed with their agenda or not, Gandhi and King understood that.

The matter has noting to do with a "protest", as such. If the school is performing its proper role and the teachers is doing great work, the students who absent themselves are inflicting their own punishment. The object of the class is LEARNING and the best class situations teach students to take responsibility for their own learning, and hold them to that standard. Any lesser approach is some degree of failure. If one purposely avoids a properly presented class, one is inflicting self-punishment.

How about protesting video games glorifying violence?
How about protesting Hollywood's blanket endorsement of huge body counts by "stars"?
How about protesting the culture that spawned the mindset regarding the taking of lives as entertaiment?

Guns my ass, it is all about what is between your ears. How exactly did it get there?

The main issue with the public education system is that it is no longer directed towards academia, it's goals have shifted towards social reconstruction through indoctrination of a socialist agenda.
Individual exceptionalism is no longer a favored attribute. It's more important for everyone to get a trophy then for one individual to excel through their own applied efforts.

As many have said above, this isn't a protest. It's a class skip. There are supposed to be 270 school days a year (I think that's right) If you gave them a chance, they'd quickly find 270 things to protest. Then what?

Free speech? In school? Don't make me laugh. Wear an NRA or a military shirt and see what free speech rights you have in school. Wear a Trump MAGA hat and see what happens. Try to tell your professor that there are only two genders and see what happens.

Why would you punish the students for doing something that is encouraged , endorsed and led by their teachers and school administrators?

My 16 year old just came home from school here in Oak Harbor Wa. they were having the 17 minute walk out ? There is also a LGBTQ club in the school western Washington the new California.

My sons school allowed them 17 minutes of silence out in the courtyard this morning (33 degrees at the time) in memory of the 17 people who were murdered.
No gun protests, no signs, no banners, no chanting.

And they scheduled it during a regularly scheduled advisory so nobody was missing class at 10 am.

No problems.

270 days? Not so. More like 180 days.

Yet again, Paddler advertises his pathetic IQ and profound love of a combination of Marxist Socialism and Nazism. He wants to "expel" 5,000,000,000+ men, women, and obviously their "infected" children, to ... uhhhhhh, where? Obviously some remote work camp dedicated to the premise that "Work Will Make You Free." Ahhh, Paddler's idea of the Left's Great Final Solution.

How about it Mr. Paddler, will you be walking point to round up the 5,000,000,000+ gun owning deplorables and irredeemables and send us to Big Brother's authorized "work camps" ?
