Thats not up for a vote or even debate in WI. Not selfish in the least. This is the setting of the crossbow season as per the legislation. After a few years of data gathering after a temporary crossbows season duration the last step was to use the harvest data to set the final season structure for the X bowers. Gun deer hunters were the one getting the short end of the stick (they go last in WI) and there was no suggestion or movement to shorten the archery deer season. Folks want to invent all manner of scenarios that are not even up for discussion for tonights vote. The only thing on the table is what the duration of the new crossbow season and should it be shortened from its temporary length during the data gathering years.

Thanks for finding this article. Might of been fined for feeding deer but was hunting over bait and shot a deer. Here is the key point if you don"t want to hit the link.

"Kulas was cited about 10 a.m. on opening day of Wisconsin’s nine-day firearms deer season by Department of Natural Resources Warden Barry Meister. The citation notes Kulas was hunting from a tree stand about 40 yards from where corn was spread, and Kulas admitted dumping “about half of a 5-gallon pail of shell corn” the previous Monday, Nov. 12.

“The subject stated he placed the corn at this location because his elderly father was planning on hunting from this stand, but (his father) changed his mind and hunted elsewhere,” Meister wrote. The citation also notes Kulas shot a spike buck before Meister arrived."

Here is my favorite tidbit from the article.

"On another online forum in August 2011, Kulas wrote: “Unless those ‘magic stumps’ are within 50 yards of your house, they are illegal bait sites, which makes (you) as good as a poacher.”"

So by your own definition you are a POACHER plain and simple.

If your so worried about Gun hunters why not take other steps to help them out. All this bs is about is getting hunters out of the woods so you and the rest of the whiny elitist douchebag bowhunters have less competition. You want no one in the woods that might shoot "your" deer. In your case personally, fewer people means fewer potential witnesses to you doing something illegal. I speak for alot of hunters when I say that you are a lying self centered pain the ass that is doing nothing for the sport of hunting as a whole except hurting it. We don't need someone like you trying to speak for any of us as you might come across as speaking for all of us which will do more harm than good. Please find somewhere else to be a pompous jackass.

Cool story bro. I think you are pretty ill informed but that's ok. You go with that as it seems to make you happy and thats what really matters. wink wink wink

At any rate. We should find other today if the adjustment to the crossbow season will happen in 2019 or if we need to do this again next year to shorten the season starting in 2020.

From browsing other forums, it sounds like the wbh will lose the battle. I don't think the way Ron presents himself helps their cause.

You could have done that for the last 4 years in WI. We welcome you. Bowhunting is not for everybody. Not all are up to the challenge of bowhunting and so, 4 years ago, WI created a crossbow hunting season and license and registration for that sort.

Usually I do bowhunt it. Not this year though. I'm going to stick one with a bolt. Might even get the kids involved. They're usually bow hunters as well. But we are going to stick a few for the WBH. Next year too. Because you're little proposal won't pass then either.

Cool story bro. Post pics. Crossbow hunters are hunters too. (their just not bowhunters) but I'm sure they enjoy what they do too. Make sure to purchase the crossbow hunting license as you wont be able to buy the archery deer license and use a crossbow. Yes, get kids involved. The crossbow is perfect for little kids and small women and the elderly and handicapped that cant rise to the challenges of bowhunting. Later on in life, those kids may take up the sport of bowhunting.

You know what else is good for the handicapped? Shooting spikes over bait piles in CWD zones. You know quite a bit about that, though. Don'tcha Ronnie?
