Trust, me, there are plenty of good ole American rednecks that are capable of, and do, bury trackhoes and dozers. Watched one sink one while excavating a fish pond. Tell you what. It takes some doing to pull a 65,000 lb excavator when it's buried to mid cab in a wet clay pit.

it looked like a good plan at the very beginning. but it did turn out to have a few fatal flaws in it. I think if their goal was to sink it that far from shore, they would have had no chance. In this case being tentatively stupid probably turned out way worse than just going all-in stupid.
