Currently 53 F in eastern Aleutian Hell, pissing rain and fog in the usual prescribed manner. Fortunately it "feels like" 53 F too. The good news is the winds are relatively calm compared to the howling this morning.

Today the Walmart here had window AC's for $117 ea. If air breaks down we can always go to Walmart and get one that runs for $117!

Living in a house with just me, the dogs and the cat, it ain’t worth the electric bill to me. I’d be just as happy in a shack in the woods.

In fact I LIVED in a shack in the woods my first four years in Texas, watching a property, rent free. No electricity, single cold water faucet outside ( well, lukewarm in summer grin)

Oh man, the BEST friggin parties out there with my motorcycle buddies. But, I’m an old guy now and all I do is sit on the porch at night, drink cheap wine and scratch my dog’s ears 🙂

I do have ‘lecricity, running water and a fridge.

So it ain’t like Africa.

Look, it ain’t my fault all you weenies can’t live without AC, comfy chairs, and beds wink

My grandad always kept a thermometer handy, so he'd know how hot he should be. Lol

August came early this year around here, I doubt it’ll be much different out when the real one shows up.

One thing tho, by mid-August the sun is a ways off of the solstice and picking up speed heading south, such that the sunlight ain’t quite as blinding mid day as it is right now.

We've been missing the heat wave so far, but 90's forecast for Friday.

High today was 53 here at the house.

No shade, black roof.........mid 90's.

Inside it's 73.

Repeatedly explained how the sun changes position, how curtains can be used.

Women folk are clueless.

They sure love to F with the thermostat though.

Our house was built in about 1957 on a hill in N.W.Ct. Back then it was standard to install an oil fired burner with baseboard hot water radiators. Few had "central air". The ones with hot air heat were more likely to have it afterwards. I had the walls insulated and I did the attic.

For instance our cabin in Southern Vt only has propane gas hot air heat. We have never even wanted more than a fan up there.

Here it's raining drizzle out, humid, 75F outside, My beautiful wife has the AC running in the middle bedroom window. Our bedroom is in the back of this T shaped ranch. It's very humid outside, nice and dry and cool inside. That's the AC she runs most of the time. I can hardly hear it running in our master bedroom or here in the living room of this 6 room ranch.

I’ve got two completely separate central air systems. One for each side of the house. Would not...could not do without it.

Yep I do the same thing here in Durango. That is until that forest fire # 416. It fills the Animas Valley up with smoke every night.

Same here in Teller County until both the Spring Fire and High Chateau fire. It was up to 82 in the house with all the windows closed up overnight. We got the monsoon rains ysterday though and cooled everything off to low 50's. It was delish and put out most of the fires. This morning I could see my breath.

Prove "central air" is more efficient.

When we only need some air just the middle ac works fine. It's all we used all day today. It has been set at 78F and is still running, It's the only ac running now in this large 6 room T shaped ranch.

We like that ac running in the middle bedroom as it's quiet for us in the rear master bedroom in the back.

It's 68F outside now at 12:30am TU 7/24/18
