Does anyone have this rifle? What is your take on it?

Bought one back in Jan. 2017.... Love it. It's the .22LR Varmint, Thumbhole, Fluted, Laminate model which is now discontinued. Was gonna get a 455 American in 22LR (regular stock) but when I put the thumbhole model up to my shoulder I changed my mind. It's a general use small game and plinker gun and has proven very accurate with a 2-7x Vortex scope on it. I've only seen a couple other 455's but their owners loved them also. I decided to get a CZ .22 after I gave up trying to talk my buddy into selling me his CZ452 and I couldn't find any of those around. I'm almost tempted to get one of those 455 full stock models, also, just for the "coolness" factor. Out of the five .22 rifles here the 455 is my current favorite.

My current one is a SS .22. It's a better shooter as-is than my previous one with either of the barrels I had for it. I've decided that, given the price, buying the entire rifle to shoot another cartridge makes more sense for me than swapping barrels around. Others may feel differently.

I bought a "Lux" over a year ago and so far it is outstanding.

But I think the American is a better model because of the stock - it it an excellent shape and doesn't make it hard to mount a scope the way my setup does.

FYI - just testing it out I was able to shoot what was essentially a 1 bullet diameter group at 25 yards indoors (R50) with mine, and its not very picky about ammo.

Try to examine the test target before you buy - its for function not accuracy so a bad group does not mean a bad gun.
but if you see a nice group that does mean something to me...

I have two 455s, a Stainless American, and a Scout. Like Pappy348, I had a two-barrel set earlier, but it didn't shoot so hot. These later two 455s shoot very well, at least they're about twice the rifle that early rifle was. If you buy one, buy one with a 'C' prefix on the serial number, they seem to be more accurate than the 'A' prefix guns. Both later guns are smooth as silk, and shoot well enough that I'm not complaining even a little bit. The Scout is more accurate than the larger, longer rifle, for whatever reasons I won't speculate.

I also have a 452 American, they are, for all intents and purposes, equal in accuracy to the earlier rifles, I like them all, and the .22LR magazines are interchangeable, which is nice, too.

Does anyone have one in 22 WM or 17 HMR? I was going to use it for squirrels or other varmints. Are the magnum 455's still generally accurate?

Have a fullstock and a varmint. They aren't going anywhere.

I puchased a 455 in 22 WMR earlier this spring and I'm finding it to be quite accurate. I have posted a couple 50 yard targets at the end of this thread: https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbt...55-american-rings-and-scope#Post12901902

From my research and personal experience no reason not to pick one up for the price.

Bought a 455 Trainer, cant say a thing about the Americans but that trainer is great, five shot group at fifty using the tangent sights right at an inch. Thing almost aims itself.

CZ rimfires are for the most part are very well made and very accurate. Some debate on the 455 vrs the 452 series. For the money I don't believe one can go wrong. Nobody else offers the quality for the money. I have a 452 and love it. I would definitely consider a 455 for another rimfire rifle.

Never heard anything bad about them.

I took the plunge, and got a varmint 20 WM. I also ordered a 17 HMR varmint barrel from CZ. Cannot wait to get it and take it out. I may have overdone the scope that I got from Neal at Cameraland, but what the hell.

It doesn't quite match up with the rifle, but I can switch it to one of my big game rifles if I feel the reticle is too thick. It's a Zeiss Conquest HD-5, 3-15 X 42 600 BDC. I plan on using the rifle for popping ground squirrels and some bench shooting, The Conquest also ha a 1" tube which will make it easier to mount. Also, the Conquest was on a close out sale, and went for a lot less than full retail.

I think that would match the rifle quite well actually.

I "HAD" a 455 with the .22 & .17 HMR barrels.....the trigger was nice, but the accuracy wasn't anything special....I certainly wouldn't trade the Remington 550-1 I just got for another CZ.
