Anyone try one yet?

For $270 it's hard not to give it a go, even if they rate them at 60-70%

The one they use for an illustration is really beat up looking. And those grips are the worst.

Bristoe,

That looks super nice! Did those grips come with or are they your work?

Here's my five screw, four inch, pencil barrel, M&P.

My 4" Bull Barrel:

I've got a nice six inch five screw, too, but have no picture of it, and don't feel like digging it out of the safe.

I like the Model 10 and the pre-10, i.e., the M&P.

So those you got from Bud's or you're about as helpful as ever?

Yeah, all from Bud’s. No hand select. Just luck of the draw. Do you believe me? I have some swamp land I’d like to interest you in, too.

I ordered two yesterday. I have been watching for them for awhile.

Wanted 3, but didn't want to spend the $. (Tightass)

These will belong to the 11 and 15 year old daughters.
The plan is for them to own a 22, AR-15, 12 guage, and handgun when they move out.
Quality is important, status is not.

I looked at them yesterday (I made a road trip), but they were, as noted, rough. I wasn't too interested anyway, the grips were oddball things, and besides, I already have a .38 I don't shoot much anyway. I didn't think another was indicated.

The Star BM 9mms were much more interesting, AND in better shape for less money, but I didn't want one of those, either. I guess I'm jaded. They did have two Winchester 75 target rifles, which were more interesting to me, and fairly priced. I suppose I should have bought one of those, but it just didn't flip my switches.

I think the prime period for picking up trade-in Model 10s that are halfway decent has passed us by. Back ten or fifteen years ago, some nice ones were available for around $400.00. I think we're down to the dregs now.

Back when they were best, a fixed sight 38, was as attractive as the clap.
Now, I want some. 38's, not the clap.

You know which Model 10s were always desirable? The three inch bull barrel, round butt frame, versions. Even back in the 1980s, owning one of those was the mark of someone who knew what's what. Real hard to come by today. I've got one of the stainless ones, but they're called Model 64s in stainless.

I see Model 10's all the time. Just not ones in good enough shape I'm interested in buying.

Wouldn't mind having one, but with my Ruger Speed Six 4" 38 Special, that is in much better shape, it's just hard to justify.

What I'd like to find is a Model 64 with the "pencil barrel" in 3 or 4 inch barrel.
(The 3" is HARD to find. - I think that all of them were LE contract revolvers.)

yours, tex

I've got a 64 with a 3" bull barrel and round butt frame. I don't think they made a 3" pencil barrel.

Model 10 ordered! Hoping for a good one.

French law enforcement Model 10's are likely to be rough, since they have been thrown on the ground so often when surrendering. smile
