But to participate in the conversation, my favorite fixed blade knife these days is an Old Hickory boning knife,...carbon steel blade,...about $12. I've laid it on an Arkansas stone until it'll shave your arm. Bug out Bag? WTF?
If society gets that bad Im just gonna take whatever I need. Law of the Jungle and stuff.
Thinking about all my neighbors in a 10 square block area doubt any of them would put much of a fight.
Always wanted to be a Viking. The first prepper you meet, would be the best chance of having stuff put by for when things go crazy, they would also be the first ones expecting mauraders. Thier range markers, thier forifacations, thier surprises like concealment you thought was cover., thief fall back positions. Yeah....great plan. They'll use you for fertilizer.

Bug out bag sounds awful tactical.
I do have two ammo cans with assorted ammo, lighters, glow sticks, Para cord, and a couple extra moras.
It is a working kind of thing, take some 22 out for shooting. When the one brick gets low, replace and start the old one.
But they are handy, and they have ammo for the carry handgun, AR, and 12guage.
Them, the guns, and cash, we wouldn't be bad off.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!

I actually plan on bugging in, but I like to take a bag with me when I go on a trip for surprises. Never know what's going to happen.
