Okie Dokie, fun and bizniss took care of: Shooting this AM went splendidly well. Before I post a pic, a little history. I have NOT shot this 70 Swede since Summer of 2017. I developed the load and intended to hunt it last season BUT my 284 Win project came together after a couple of delays. Since I had already hunted and killed with the 6.5X55 in 2012 and later, would have to refer to records but several deer, bucks & Does; I was MORE excited about the 284 W. I've liked and wanted a 284 W for many years - mainly because of case design. So when it came together in 2017...... the Swede got stored and the 284 went hunting. Sooooo, I have not done any more load development since 2017 - 120 N B T, 49 grs IMR 4350 = 3000 fps. I do plan to try H 4350 but it really doesn't matter.......also plan to try Rl 26 so we'll see. I actually had to dig the Swede OUT, it was not front and center. These are the FIRST 3 shots SINCE 2017 ! ! I didn't attempt to shoot more into the group; a YEAR rest and COOL, plus I took a few minutes between each shot. BINGO ! ! I got the WW brass from EdM here on the 'fire', don't know how old it is. The W W LRS&M primers are from a STASH before WW primers went brass. The COAL is already posted on P 30, 3.03" For reference here's the 1" target dot laying OVER the 3 shots. I like measuring O-O rather than C-C, just personal preference. All I had to do was simply adjust the scope and VOILA --- I'm ready for Deer Season. Earlier M D said... on P 28 I also once owned a M70 like yours. Nice rifle, but it didn't shoot as accurately as a Ruger 77 Hawkeye, which also had a decent walnut stock. Neither shot nearly as well as my .260 Remington TIkka T3 Super Lite, one of the special run from Whittaker Guns with a 1-8 twist. And none of them shoot as well as my present Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor.....
I don't doubt you, MD. I AM not nor HAVE not attempted many things to improve the accuracy to BR level. For hunting I'm perfectly content with 120 NBT, @ 3000 fps and 3/4" O-O grouping.

I like the 6½ Creed in an AR-10, for better potential accuracy than a .308. I say, potential, I haven't yet achieved it in mine, yet Accurate rifles are always fun, but I have other accurate rifles, in that same general cartridge size range, so I'm struggling to justify another bolt or single shot. The fact they come with fast twists is a plus, of course.

Looks like you made short work of that project jwall. Nice shootin'. Thnx JG, I did the load development last year based on Denton's loading & pressure testing. I started low in the charge and worked up to 49 grs. and no problems. I like it when a plan comes together!! grin

Well, it looks that way ! I had not thot about it but according to Nos # 7, it is a 35* shoulder. Whatdayaknow ...... There WAS a 7mm Creedmoor before the 6.5 ! ! ! Jerry

jwall, I'm going to launch some 139 Scenar's from my Tikka 6.5 this year and see what happens. Mine groups about like your VLD's. Would be interested in your final and best load with that bullet. DF RL16 gives great accuracy at 2790 out of a 21” barrel

43.7, 2.85”. Works great with 139 Scenar and 140 Hunting VLD. Edit: Hornady brass and BR2s. The VLDs run about 2755 with the same load.

I thought I liked the 6.5x47 a little better than the Creedmoor. The x47 allows magazine length VLD type rounds to reach the lands without the boat tail heel going below the neck-shoulder junction into the donut area. BUT, that was before I actually owned a Creedmoor. Just had Jon Beanland put together a Creedmoor for me. I wanted to be able to walk in Walmart and buy ammo, should I ever need to. It is the most bizarre thing I’ve ever seen. It shoots EVERYTHING well, just some things better than others. My son left some cheap ($137/200) Hornady American Gunner ammo last time he was home. It has AVERAGED in the .4s for seven 5-shot groups. My fear became I wouldn’t be able to find a handload that would beat it. It now looks like that is not a concern either. Here’s a group from yesterday’s load testing. That’s five shots into .319”. Four of them went into .148”. Anyone know how to get rid of that pesky flyer?😂😂😂 Say what y’all want about the Creed but I’ve never had a cartridge perform like this for me before... John

Shazam Hondo! Fantastic. I drank the CM Koolaid about a year ago (Whittaker T3X). Liked it so much I now own another, in CTR version. Like you, hard to find something they don't love.

Great shooting Hondo! I too have found the 6.5CM to be exceptionally easy to load for. Like JG, I own a T3x that is coming along very nicely with the 147ELD, and hope to add a LH CTR very soon.
I've seen more well-shot game lost with TSXs than any other premium bullet.

John, I feel yo pain.
I, too, have had some concern over being able to load ammo that shoots better than off the shelf factory stuff. I did achieve that, but it took some effort and with only select loads, not across the board.
Ii don't know of any other round where I can't easily better factory fodder with reloads. Not so with the Creed.
Pretty amazing. Home run, team Hornady.

DF I got some contract overrun "police/sniper" 308's from Norma loaded with 168 Match Kings. It was hard to equal, let alone beat.

Across the board off the shelf ammo, you can usually beat with select hand loads. Off the shelf Creed ammo compared to other off the shelf ammo is just about in a class of its own. DF

I was hunting near Lephalale in RSA earlier this year. In town there is the most well stocked rifle shop I have seen anywhere. The owner showed me around and took me into his vault in which was stored rifles waiting to be delivered to new owners. He said that rifles chambered for 6.5 CM accounted for over 80% of his sales of new rifles.
