Since 30 + folks have viewed this already with nary a response, I'll give you my review of it.
I started out with one of the 1st generation Leica rangefinders. When it went belly up, I got the Sig 850. I used it on an elk hunt in Colorado and was able to range a bull at 776 yards and in. At least in to around 400 yards when he moved into the brush (I got my shot on him at a whopping 137 yards). I sold it and bought the 1200 to replace it and to use it on some steel out to 900 or so.
Optical clarity is very good. I find keeping it on a deer at 400 not as difficult as either the Leica or the 850 was. It won't replace your binoculars, in short. Accuracy is very good, something along the lines of +/- 1 yard at 1000 or so. After that it doubles to +/- 2 yards out to the 1200.
I used it at Whittington on the buffalo at 1123 yards and lo and behold, it showed it was 1123 yards away! Wont miracle ever cease.
Sig is in my books, one of, if not the top of the line rangefinders out there. For what you're looking at using it for it's well worth the effort and the $$$
