One of my pet peeves too! I hate that "Great shape for it's age" comment...like it's supposed to magically forgive all the sins on the gun. I saw the same GB listing for that gun and one of the pics of the barrel appeared that it had a bulge in it...that characteristic, shadowy donut inside the barrel that we all know is a bulge. Called and was told that no bulge was there in the barrel, but it also appears the original pics that I saw of the bulge have now seem have been replaced.

What I don't get with guns in this condition is the price that they ask? $599 ? The gun has no condition...how do you come up with that price?

They have a .22 HP listed, about the same condition and asking $899. I just don't get it.

My criticism did not fall on completely deaf ears. It's been downgraded to "The rifle is in good shape giving its age."

Who wants to break the news to them?

my wife's sister's brother in laws father in law has a 99 savage and he said they go for big bucks in any shape!
unfortunately, there are those out there that will pay the high prices without knowing a thing about a 99.
like the colt craze/
i must admit that not that long ago i bought savage 99's without any discretion as to condition. then i fell into this crowd and got uppity.
now at least there can't be extra holes in what i buy.
