First weekend out with my new to me 99F purchased here on the fire. Leupold M8 6X purchased here as well. I am really liking it. The pigs hate it.

Great pictures everyone, very encouraging! Thanks!

What calibre is that 99F that is so distasteful to those swine, Mohawk?

(...can't believe you shot that cute spotted one...) wink

.300 which is a round I am quickly becoming very fond of. I purchased a 99R from Fireball a couple of years back and gifted it to my father. He immediately went on a killing spree with it shooting several whitetails and hogs and the performance is great with very little recoil. I had been looking for a decent hunter grade F for a while and finally found one here from TomT. I'm really liking it. Hope to post more pictures on this thread before the deer season ends.

That spotted boar was a pretty handsome swine as far as Feral hogs go. If you know how destructive they are and the fact they are a non-native species you understand why we kill every one we can. We cant even begin to put a dent in the population. I truly love hunting them but hate what they do to the native wildlife and the landowners who's property they tear up.

I really regretted selling that 99. BUT, I am very glad it was put to good use. It was a beauty.

Yes sir it is and it is crazy accurate as well! With that tang safety it is made for a southpaw like my dad. He loves it. He has hunted it hard but he babies it and it looks just like it did when you shipped it with the exception of the old Weaver 4X that he mounted on it.

that's the only 99 I ever had with the aftermarket tang safety added. What a fantastic piece of machinery.

Decided yesterday to start thinning out the does at the farm. Took a large doe with a 1935 99 RS 300 mounted with a 1938 Zeiss scope this am. Fifty yard shot with 1950's Winchester silver tip ammo. Donated it to a individual that needed the meat for the winter. Will take others, all with different Savage 99's. Mostly with pre 1940's rifles. Sorry no pictures, hard to brag about tender eating does. GW

I haven't had a chance to check this post since I started it - all I have to say is AWESOME so far. Yukon moose with a 303, verifying all the old 303 ads - I love it. What was the load for that kill shot? I have head shot several cow elk at close range in the timber, took a cow buffalo with a 500 gr 45-70 blackpowder load out of an 1888 trapdoor right behind the ear, and dropped a nice 6x6 bull by spining him as he fed directly to me with his head down, so I know what you mean about the solid neck shot - instantaneous. I am also envious of those who get to shoot lots of pigs and whitetails every year - seems like a place where the 99 would shine. Keep 'em coming! I head out Friday for one more run at big bull elk for a 4 day hunt, we'll see if there is anything to report.

Heading for WV now. Last year I got a doe with the 250 R and a spike with the 300 R. This year I'm taking the 22 HP with the Malcolm scope and the 1899 B in 303. If I get a deer with each does that count toward the slam?

I'm not greedy, I just want one of each.
