As promised.....This is the recovered bullet from my elk hunt 2 weeks ago. It is a 175 gr 308 cal LRX that started off at 3425 fps from my WBY KCR 30-378. The impact was at 355 yards and took out both shoulders and lungs.

Bullet weighs in at 114.4 gr and diameter of .446" at the widest.

It’s pretty wild how white those antlers are... congrats!

Wow...have never seen a Barnes rivet like that. I guess the LRX are truly softer. And that's quite a bull, Fotis! Well done! And those have to be the lightest antlers I've ever seen on a harvested bull!

Path of destruction must have been incredible. I shot a few deer with that same bullet out of a 300 Win. Mag at 3150 fps. Never found a bullet but they looked like a buzzsaw went to work inside them.

Thanks, guys......

Remember I nailed the second bull at 385 yards. He was hit behind near shoulder and out the rear of far ribs. Nice exit hole! These are "softer" bullets

Great job on the elk! Congrats all around. Remind me to stick with TTSX and fuggedabout the LRX. How can the LRX be softer than TTSX if the TTSX is made from pure copper? Thinner give? Larger cavity? Combination of the two? Happy Trails

If I could give you an intelligent accurate answer to that, I would. My main fear with Barnes has always been lack of expansion. Never worried about lack of penetration. The fact that the petals sheared off does not bother me at all.

Copper can be annealed to become softer. Could be that Barnes anneals those bullets after final shaping, but before adding the tip.

In my opinion, that is a great looking recovered bullet. Way better than one that didn’t expand. It doesn’t bother me the bullet lost its petals.

Thanks for sharing!

With an elk on the ground, performance is optimum! My results have been similar to Tony’s. 168 TTSX launched at 3,296 fps, .300 Wby. Happy Trails
