Although this is a 'no hunting' area, my first thought was someone arrowed a deer on the sly. Since blood trails in parks are never a good thing I called the police - they told me a deer at been hit by a car about 100 yards from the spot. The car was nearly totaled so I'm surprised the deer made it this far.

There are so many footprints present I can't see where anything (body) was moving perpendicular to the trail. Probably someone got a nose bleed from the cold air and did a "farmer blow" to clear the clot. Or perhaps you need to get yourself tested!
That trail does not look right to me. All the blood tails I have followed never where a solid line of blood like that shown, they always had spots ,smears and gaps in the blood line, but never a solid like that. <shrugs> To me, it looks like someone "poured" a line of blood for what ever reason. Maybe, just never seen it.

Same here. Perhaps someone put it out training a dog or something.

Not moving fast at all.
The "loops" could be where the animal was taking a breath..

I thought the same thing about the solid line. The trail was easy to see in the snow another 20' on each side of the trail, and based on where the deer was hit it was bleeding like that for 100 yards. Maybe we're accustomed to bullet and arrow trails instead of one caused by a Buick.
Odds are the deer was moving from top to bottom in the photo (my left to right foot) based on where the road is.

Hey, Did I inadvertently click on the Humor and Jokes thread?

PS this could be serious stuff here, maybe that's a trail from a wounded axe murderer victim and not a deer.
PPS JOG No disrespect Sir, it would stir my interest too had I run across it.

Have seen some interesting blood trails in the old neighborhood when a coyote would kill a cat. They seemed to stop at street corners, blood would stack up a little and then it would thin up to the next corner. Not saying this was anything like that, but it would be interesting to know how this happened.
I do have a ketchup squirt bottle that is full of blood for blood track training. It shoots a decent stream.
